Tonight I discovered I don't like Guinness. Which, let's be honest, was absolutely no surprise at all. I may have Irish blood coursing through my veins, but I think that stuff is nasty. Good thing I've patented my small sip since that Lemon Drop I tasted, otherwise I might have spit it out or something. Now I can say I've tasted it though.
My other big thing this evening was that I went through some of my desk drawers trying to clear out some space to add more stuff. I had quite a large pile of old pens and a bunch of pencils that I'm never going to use, so I got rid of those, but I've still got TONS of pens and some pencils left. To give you an idea, there are currently 23 pens scattered across my desk, plus like 15 in a pen-holder on the desk, plus a BUNCH in a drawer... even after the clear-out process. And as for paper products, which would be spiral notebooks and some pads of paper, there are 24 in a stack to the side of my desk, plus a bunch in drawers, plus at least three packs of filler paper for use in 3-ring binders. Those are just the blank ones, too. Oh, and I've got a gazillion 3x5 cards and quite a few sticky notepads. You know, I think I'm set for quite a while, but it's a safe bet that I'll buy more at different points during the year anyway; especially if there are more super good back-to-school sales, though I think most are done for this year. See what I mean about it being an addiction? At least I satisfied a good portion of my addiction the last month or two by buying lots of school supplies which I then donated. I mean, Staples had a six-pack of spiral notebooks for 30 cents. How could I resist? But I donated all 36 of them. That makes it okay, right? Heh.

I've watched Robin Hood three times since I got it on Monday. It's a good movie, and I heart Robin Hood stories, so I can't help myself. I'd forgotten how many well-known actors were in that, too. I don't know if Kevin Costner would be my first choice for Robin (okay, he's not), but he's not bad. It'd probably help a lot if he at least spoke with a British accent. ;)
Speaking of that, I've gone back to the book sale twice more and picked up more items each time. Now I've got another small stack of books and two more VHS tapes, both animated Disney movies. :) I was ecstatic at a find on Wednesday when I stopped by. There was a copy of Sing the Light by Louise Marley, and I snatched it up the moment I caught sight of it. I've already got a copy, but the whole original trilogy is out of print and it was only 50 cents, so I count it a good buy. Now I can actually lend it to someone without fear that I'll never, ever be able to read that book again because at least now I've got two copies of that one! I searched through both that day and when I went today to see if the other two books in the series were there, but they don't appear to be so. Bummer, but I'll live. ;)
On Wednesday, before my trip to the library, I went to a job fair. I'd never been to one before, nor had my mom, so I wasn't really sure to expect. It was pretty much like I'd thought, but also pretty small. There weren't a lot of companies represented there, and nothing that looked like it was for me. I must admit that I was only there for a grand total of maybe ten minutes, and a few of those were spent in the bathroom. Part of it was that I felt looked down upon since everyone there was older and I look really young, but more so it was because it was held at my old high school. I've had to go into that building a few times since I graduated, and every time I feel uncomfortable. The sight of it alone sets me slightly uneasy, but walking up the steps and through the doors is even worse. It's not so much specific memories, but more the culminated feeling of all the memories of two years spent there. Thank God for Washington's Running Start program! It was bad enough having to be in high school for two years, I am so grateful the second two could be spent at community college instead. I was never meant for high school.
Emily came over tonight and we watched The Scorpion King 2, which I'd rented the other day. We saw a trailer for it when we went to see The Mummy 3 and it looked pretty good. It was decent. I actually liked it better than the first of that title, but it doesn't hold a candle to the Mummy movies themselves. Must say that scribe/poet was my favorite character. He was amusing, and I just tend to like the brainy/nerdy characters anyway. ;) Some of the graphics were pretty sad, but others were good, and overall I'd say it was a good rental. After that we watched Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace. I had invited a few girls from the college group, but none were able to come. Probably worked out for the best though, because I doubt any of them would have wanted to watch The Scorpion King 2. Heh.
My dad's continuing to do better. Still not 100%, but he's progressing toward that each day. :) Tonight he and my mom even went out for dinner, so that was a big thing. And they returned the walker and wheelchair as he's able to walk without support now. My Aunt Chris is even coming up tomorrow to see him and spend some time with us, and Kenny will probably come over again. It was good, he came over the other day to visit with dad and even brought him some ski DVDs so now my dad's got some stuff he likes to entertain him.

Praise God. My dad has his back surgery today and everything went really well. They had a long day at the hospital (just got back a little bit ago and left this morning), but they both agreed it was well worth it. My dad is already extremely improved. He can walk easily with the walker (he did laps around the house, he was so excited, lol), and the pain he's been having in his leg is pretty much gone. I guess his knee is hurting him a bit, but that's probably just from the way he's had to sleep and favoring one leg in his brief moments of having to walk before, so hopefully that will be good in a day or two. He doesn't have to wear the back brace now either. It's amazing. God is just awesome. I'm so thankful that there weren't any problems with the surgery and dad's already feeling not just a little better, but WAY better. We all just feel bathed in God's love right now.
That was the major news, now for some more minor tidbits. ;) Last night there was a lovely thunderstorm. It started around ten and there were a few really good rumbles of thunder when it was closer to us for a bit. I ended up sitting and watching through the window for quite a while. There was a good deal of fabulous cloud to cloud lightning. I just find it so beautiful and just amazing to think of. Extremely high amounts of electricity discharging in the atmosphere... totally cool.
Today I had some errands to run, but left late and cut it really close to closing time at two places. I made it, though. It was really good I managed to get to the post office when I did, too, because right after me a huge line formed and I only had to wait for one or two people before I was helped. Mailed Sam her package. :)
After I got the time-constrained errands finished, I went to the library to drop off two books. When I walked in, I see that they're having a book sale this week. I had to go look, I mean, you get great deals at those things. I ended up buying five books and a VHS of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. :) I think, too, that I'll probably go look again later this week if I'm going by there. I didn't look through all the fiction books they had, and there were a few movies I thought about getting, but wasn't sure of, so we'll see. Think I'll go watch my new-to-me VHS now. ;)
